Leave of absence

Leave of absence period shall be counted in accordance with the University’s fiscal year (1 October to 30 September of the next year) 

Sick leave Personnel can take sick leave with full pay of no more than 30 working days per year. A physician’s certificate is required for a sick leave of more than four consecutive days.
Annual leave Personnel with no less than one year of service period on the date of an annual leave request are entitled to a paid

annual leave of 10 working days per year. Unused days of annual leave in a particular year may be accumulated for subsequent years. Personnel with less than 10 years of service period can take no more than 20 days of accumulated leave for the current year while personnel with more than 10 years of service period can take no more than 30 days of accumulated leave for the current year.  

University personnel who are academic staff can take an annual leave during a semester and mid-year/final examination periods. However, they must not postpone their normal class hours and arrange for make-up classes at subsequent date, and must not reschedule their examination invigilator duty.

Personal leave Personnel are entitled to personal leave with full pay of no more than 15 working days per year.
Personnel who wish to travel overseas for their personal leave under this regulation or during holidays shall apply for an overseas travel to their superiors along the chain of command. The University President shall have the power to authorize such travel. Request form for overseas travel must be submitted no less than seven working days in advance.

Personal leave for child care Personnel, who apply for a maternity leave and wish to have their leave extended by applying for additional personal leave for child care, are entitled to a combined leave without pay of no more than 150 working days.

Maternity leave Personnel are entitled to a prenatal or post-natal maternity leave with full pay of no more than 98 days for each childbirth. Maternity leave shall include leave of absence for pre-natal examination and shall require a physician’s certificate issued by a certified physician or a physician approved by the person with the maternity leave authorization power. 

Paternity leave Personnel are entitled to a paternity leave to take care of a lawful wife after childbirth for no more than 15 consecutive working days per childbirth. A paternity leave request must be submitted before or within 90 days from the date of childbirth together with a childbirth certificate and the child’s birth certificate.

Ordination or Hajj leave Personnel with no less than two years of service period on the date of leave are entitled to an ordination or Hajj leave with full pay of no more than 120 days. They can take such leave only once for the entire duration of employment. Personnel must report to work within seven days of their termination of monkhood or their return to Thailand from a Hajj trip. A letter of certification issued by the abbot confirming the ordination and disrobement dates must be submitted for an ordinationleave request and reporting back to work. 

Military conscription or mobilization leave Personnel can take a leave of absence to carry out these missions for the duration determined by the military forces, which include the necessary period for travelling to and from the military services. They must also present documents issued by the military forces for their leave request.  

Sterilization leave Personnel can take a sterilization leave as specified in the relevant physician’s certificate.

The above-mentioned leaves of absence taken in previous year shall be taken into consideration for an annual salary increase consideration. Personnel must have no more than 45 leave days to be eligible for a salary increase consideration with the following exceptions: 
  1. Sick leave for a long period of treatment, for single or several times (for leave with pay only);
  2. Sick leave due to injuries sustained while performing occupational duties or while traveling to or from the workplace to perform their duties; 
  3. Maternity leave of no more than 98 days, including a leave day for pre-natal examination;
  4. Paternity leave for a period of no more than 15 working days;
  5. Sterilization leave;
  6. Annual leave;
  7. Ordination or Hajj leave of no more than 120 days;
  8. Military conscription or mobilization leave;
  9. Leave for working in an international organization.
